Do not let the shared name choose the court

Maricopa can mean an Arizona county, the Arizona city with its own Municipal Court, or the California locality. Those names are not interchangeable criminal-record destinations. Find the state and complete court name on the citation, case notice or judgment before searching.

Compare the court designation and available identity details before treating a result as the correct case. Keep the case number, hearing court, and needed disposition, order, or document tied to the responsible court.

For a California reference, use the California court identified on the case papers. The City of Maricopa, California source establishes locality only and does not replace the actual court record custodian.

Arizona city-court requests need a complete form

Maricopa Municipal Court requires a written Records Request Form. Provide requester or agency information and the requested information. Include the known case identifier when available and identify the particular document, order, or hearing requested. If a recipient requires a specific format or certification, confirm that requirement before ordering the record.

Requests can be submitted at the counter, by mail, or by email. Delivery options include pickup, mail, or email. Incomplete forms are not processed.

The published schedule lists name research at $17, covering up to three names per request or three cases per name, copies at $0.50 per page, certification at $17 per case for each certification plus copying, and audio duplication at $17 per copy. Not all proceedings are recorded, so check whether the particular hearing was recorded before ordering or paying for audio.

Justice Court and Superior Court records require the correct case route

Justice Courts do not share access to Superior Court or municipal records. Send requests to the hearing court. Justice Courts do not perform background checks, and litigant requests without a case number may be declined.

The packet requires requester and contact information, hearing court, case or litigant information, document name and date, copy quantity, certification choice, signature, and date. Separate requests are needed for separate hearing courts.

Current copy charges are $0.50 per page and $33 certification per document. The $33 commercial clerk/search charge applies to documents from up to ten cases per day. The packet waives that clerk fee for noncommercial requests; this does not make all copying or certification free. Payment options include check or telephone credit card. Contact the responsible court about applicable waiver, deferral, or exempt-copy instructions.

Use Superior Court records and California routes separately

Maricopa Superior Court docket searches by name or case number locate case entries but do not provide document copies. Use the separate online Records Request Form for copies, certified copies, and complex inquiries.

Registered parties can access their own cases through ECR. Public minute entries include limited criminal material. Paid eAccess supplies unrestricted public documents. These self-service options are separate from docket entries and certified-copy requests.

In-person inspection can be free, while copies and certifications have separate charges. The published copy rate is $0.50 per page plus $35 to certify a document, with research charges where needed. Closed, sealed, and confidential material may be unavailable.

For Maricopa, California records, identify the actual California court before requesting documents. If case papers identify Kern County, use Kern court case-information and judicial-record-request routes. Online case information is not an official or certified record.

A missing online entry does not prove no record exists. Older, restricted, or other-court material may require the responsible custodian.
